May 1, 2008

October 1, 2007 I wrote a message for my web site, and though it was a great idea – a personal touch that helps you know who I am, and how I think. It’s now May, 2008 and I realize it is like writing a Christmas letter, but comes more often. But , if I wrote my holiday letter more often I could remember what it was I wanted to tell old friends. You have probably heard the saying “of all the things I’ve lost, it’s my mind I miss the most.”

So what is new in Greeneville, Tennessee since October? Yes, the real estate market did slow down – not die, just slowed down. My business was almost non existant in January and February, but has picked up again. I have been involved with relocating some great people to our area, and for that I am thankful. The good news for buyers is that it is definitely a buyers market. There are more homes on the market than buyers right now, which makes prices more competitive, thus a good time to buy.
We survived the worst drought our area has suffered in 116 years. It was brown and dry – ponds, creeks, and even some wells dried up. Our volunteer fire departments pumped water for area farmers to hydrate cattle living on waterless farms. Many were forced to sell their herds. This is not the type of records we like to be known for, but as we all know – hardships that we survive make us stronger.

It’s easy for me to tell you that spring is my favorite season. So much green, so many blooms, warm sunshine. And following a dry winter the grasses look even better than usual. Of course, when it is time for me to write a new message this fall I will be telling you that fall is my favorite season. Cool nights, clear air and clearer views of the mountains, rich fall colors – sweaters, blankets, football. How I love the fall too! I’m not lying about either season being my favorite. Guess I am a lucky person to have two favorite seasons, and they both occur every year!

I still love what I am doing. I am a home body, and think everyone needs a home they are glad to go to every night. A place to feel safe, loved and secure. That is what home is to me.
I meant to take some spring photos - - but guess what? That hasn’t been done, so just take my word for it. Spring in east Tennessee is spectacular.
